This is the second kitchenaid appliance that doesn't work in our brand new construction home. After contacting customer service when this stopped working after one week, we were told they would ship a replacement right away. A week later we contact them to determine anticipated date of arrival, to find out it was never shipped. Happy Thanksgiving from Kitchenaid, no microwave! Not the level of quality in product or service kitchenaid was previously known for.

This microwave was installed in our brand new house 1.5 years ago. I was so happy - it is beautiful. However, the touch buttons started going out one by one. I called KitchenAid to see about the replacement warranty. I had heard such good things about their customer service, I was sure it wouldn't be a big deal. Wrong! The limited warranty expired 2 months before our issues started. And they don't offered replacement parts or any way to service this microwave. I was told the only option was to buy a new one! $500!! Why would I buy a new one if this one didn't even last 2 years?? Ridiculous! Don't purchase this product. And I will be buying from other companies who stand by their products from here on out.

My first Kitchen Aide microwave failed at less than 2 years and maybe an hour of run time in this period. This microwave cannot be repaired so I had to RELUCTANTLY had to buy another one due to the built in requirements in my cabinets. Never again will I own Kitchen Aide.

I bought this microwave a month ago to replace another KitchenAid.
I like it very much but am disappointed it is so hard to open. I have to push really hard on the latch to open the door. It runs very quietly.

Product is poor quality. The number keys started to intermittently not respond a couple months after the warranty ended. Now none of them work. Kitchenaid support says they can't help me since the 1 year warranty expired, and they offer no repair options.

I puchased this unit since it was very close in size to the one (GE) I was replacing, that lasted 18 years! I needed one that would fit into my built-in space, but also was loaded w/features. I chose this model since it was closest in size -&- features to the previous one.
It works well & is quieter than my previous model. I'm please w/it & hope it lasts @ least 1/2 as long as my original one. I have two minor changes I'd recommend:
#1) The door is hard to open. It closes well (which is good) but it is hard to open w/the push-in rectangular 'button'.
#2) After the (countdown) timer goes off, it does not revert back to the clock display. A small nit to pick but I would have appreciated that small change.

I purchased this microwave in 2017. 18 months later, one of the keypad buttons no longer works. Kitchenaid Support tells me that this unit is considered "disposable", is not repairable, and NO parts are available! Before you buy this microwave, you need to consider if you think a $600 appliance is disposable, because if something breaks Kitchenaid does not offer a solution!

We waited and saved 30 years to get a dream kitchen and thought we were buying top of the line products. Our new kitchen is four years old and there are only two of us and because we had everything customized we had to get the right size for the hole and only found we could get a kitchen aid. We love this microwave and a few months ago had to replace with another one because it quit. It's sad when you've worked hard and the first one doesn't even last four years and so there goes another $600.00. So sad. Now our $3500.00 kitchen aid refrigerator freezer has gone out and is having issues. Not sure how I feel about this product anymore. We will see how it turns out.

Problem on the horizon with door latch

The microwave was recently installed and already the door latch button is not feeling right. When I depress the button to open the door it doesn't always catch and I have to work at getting the door to open. I can tell that it will totally fail soon. No problems with the microwave functions but if I can't open the door the unit is obviously useless.

I bought this microwave to replace an existing kitchen aid from 2006 which recently quit working. This one came recommended by our local appliance store. They ordered the microwave along with the installation kit to mount above our oven in the wall. I was immediately dissatisfied with the finished look. It does not have a flush side finish. It is flush on the bottom and top, but the sides leave a huge gap. I assume this gap is for ventilation, however you can see the microwave and even through to the other side of my kitchen. Completely cheap looking! The front even has gaps. I called the appliance company as well as kitchen aid custom service and apparently this is the only kit available and there are none with an aesthetically pleasing look like my original mount. The kitchen aid customer service representative was rude to me and kept shifting the blame to the installer, not the product itself. I wish I had just gone with another brand. We have used kitchen aid appliances faithfully since 2002. Not anymore! Not only am I dissatisfied with the cheap look, poorly designed and I'll fitted kit, but the microwave is very difficult to OPEN!! I mean my daughter swears it requires magic. Lol! It is a very stiff button to push. Overall, not a happy customer. Maybe fine for countertop, not built in!

I had a similar K.A. Microwave that died after 15 years. I had great service from the old one so replaced with closest available. Bought the trim kit for the new model. Labelled correctly, but neither kit nor micro had needed screwholes shown in instructions. Am trying to make it work, but trim kit doesn't allow door to fully open. Also, the new micro is much noisier than the old one and sounds tinny when door closes. My kitchen is all this brand, but standards appear to have changed. Lots of money to spend for disappointment.

I have had two of these units in the last 3 years and each failed at just over a year when they went out of warranty. KitchenAid's response "try outlet.kitchenaid.com and see if there is low priced one to replace it with. We don't service counter top models. But we would just replace it if it was under warranty." Not even a concession on the price of a replacement! Don't believe me, look at the photo. This model number. Manufactured in June 2017 but purchased in January 2018. Failed in June of 2019 less than 18 months later.

This was my third KitchenAid microwave. The first was broken after 15 months of use. The second one was broken within 12 months so I got a new one from KitchenAid. The third one was broken after 15 months of use and out of warrantee. Microwave supposed to last more than 5+ years. For some reason KitchenAid microwave tends to breakdown around a year time frame.

We got this microwave to replace one that failed after 10 years. Unfortunately, the old size and model was discontinued and this does not have the great appearance and solid feeling our last one did. We give it 4 stars because it fits and it cooks quickly. We're hesitant to rate it higher than that because of the comments of the opener latch that fails. Ours does not open smoothly. One has to press it hard, and suddenly it gives. There is no smoothness or ease of pressure to the opening mechanism. Perhaps this is just a quirk that will continue for the next 10 years, or it's a sign of a poorly designed latch. So it just gets 4 stars.

I bought this 2 months ago to replace a previous Kitchen Aid microwave we purchased with our new home. It was very disappointing that the first microwave quit in 3 years. We tried to repair it, but parts were no longer available due to the first model being discontinued. More disappointment & $ for service call. Called Kitchen Aid & this model was the replacement for the surround we had in the new house. $500 later at Home Depot we had a working microwave. Ugh!!!!

Bought 4 of these for the new suite our firm has moved into. Two for our breakroom & two for our catering kitchen. Have one that started making loud noise while cooking and actually called a KitchenAid service tech here and San Diego. Long story short. Paid the tech $70 bucks to tell me it cannot be fixed. Apparently this model is $600 bucks of trash because you can't fix it after the one year warranty. Imagine paying good $$ for a car and not being able to fix it.... This was not disclosed when purchased. Very disappointed.

I had to replace my Countertop Microwave that was only 4 years old. I would have purchased another brand but because all of my applicances were Kitchenaid I was stuck. For the price that I paid, I feel I should have gotten something with more quality and that would last longer.

The door closes but does not always connect and start. I have to open and close. It again. Oven underneath it fogs up and doesn't work right when I use microwave as long time.

We selected KitchenAid appliances for our new construction home. This microwave is possessed. From the start, when you close the door, 50% of the time it will beep once and the clock will reset to 00:00. Last week, I closed the door after removing an item and the microwave came on, with NO time remaining. I opened the door and closed it again and it started again. On the third try, it did not come on again, whew! On top of that, now the 7, 8, & 9 do not work at all when selected. This microwave is only 1 1/2 years old. My first experience with KitchenAid, but since it is out of warranty, I guess I will be looking for a replacement before this one decides to cook on its own again.

Microwave works great. We realized how dependent we are with this. The mechanism to open the door seems hard to push open but okay. The alert beeps after cooking has ended is loud & does not stop even when you open the door is awfully loud. Inside turntable works well for heat distribution. So - all in all - Good Product.
