Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. Ice Maker Subpar at best

Icemaker distributes unevenly creating a roadblock to filling the ice compartment. This issue creates little to no ice in the compartment at any given time. The fix is a manual fix where the owner must open ice maker door bang the roadblock if ice down into the ice compartment holder and hit the on and off button so the freezer understands its time to make ice again now the the roadblock has been distributed correctly.

Terrible Refrigerator

The product is terrible when something goes wrong with it for instance it isnt cooling anymore currently my refrigerator is at 65 degrees and my freezer is over 50. They replaced the compressor on a Friday and by Wednesday morning I woke to a puddle of water from the ice maker. Customer service is useless and cant get anyone to fix it. Dont buy.

Compressor failed at 5 years. $1650.00 repair and a week waiting for the parts. Research shows this is a common problem with LG brand refrigerators. Although I like the product I will never buy another LG product due to so quick of failure.

LG Refrigerator DO NOT PURCHASE

We purchased the LG Model LMXS28596S around 2019. 7 repairmen have came out and no one can fix it. We have a home warranty plan American Home Shield and they only want to give us approximately $650.00. The refrigerator was almost $4000.00 with tax.. I do not recommend LG refrigerators or American Home Shield Warranty. Ours stopped cooling they replaced the compressor two times that was not the problem. We pay American Home Shield monthly and pay $100.00 per visit for a repair. However American Home Shield made us pay for the first repair out of seven unsuccessful repairs. DO NOT PURCHASE LG REFRIGERATORS OR USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD WARRANTY.

Display doesnt show when somethings wrong

Lots of nice features. Unfortunately some basic ones are missing like an alarm and/or an error code when the unit fails. The display shows only the temperature setpoints for the freezer and fridge compartments not the actual temperatures like every other thermostat in the world. The linear compressor is normally very quite which is great unless you fail to realize when it has stopped running. Your first clue that something is wrong will be the melted ice slowly dribbling out of the through-the-door dispenser and onto your kitchen floor. The lights will still work. The chime will still sound if you leave the door open too long. This display wont show that anything is amiss. So if the compressor stops running dont expect a timely warning. When figuring out the total cost of owning the fridge dont forget to include the hundreds of dollars of spoiled groceries youll have to replace because you didnt have a chance to move them to a backup fridge.

Compressor went out common problem with lg. lg will replace only part after you pay for tech to come out several times and requests through lg a new compressor. If it gets approved they will ship the compressor and you have to pay the tech again to come out and install - takes approx 8 weeks total if you survive that long - just very peer response to actual need

Love the dual freezer drawers. Love the door in door for holding milk and other quick access items. Instaview rarely gets used because we forget we have the option. Temperature display is bizarre came home from a trip and the compressor had gone out with everything thawed or gone bad but the display still claimed the temperature was where it was supposed to be for both fridge and freezer. Compressor had gone out but icemaker still kept filling the ice tray with water repeatedly but nothing was freezing. Water on the floor ruining our hardwood. Had this only about 3.5 years before it broke. About 1 year after getting it the water from the dispenser started smelling of sulfur. We had regularly swapped the filters but thought maybe it was a filter problem so we swapped it again. Changed nothing after flushing it thoroughly. Got another filter and tried again. Still very sulfuric smell. Was never able to figure it out so stopped using dispenser and ice maker. Our tap water smells and tastes fine but the fridge continued to have the terrible smell and taste. If I didnt have an extended warranty on this I would not replace with another LG. Going to see Home Depot now to see what our extended warranty actually does for us. I doubt it will cover the damaged floors or the cost of the prime steaks I had in the freezer. At this point I think we will be lucky if they even fix it or replace it Im not optimistic.

Poor Reliability

Purchased the LMXS28596S /01 in May of 2021 it stopped working in May of 2025. Very disappointed in the LG appliance product line. According to the repair company the compressor needs to be replaced. Parts are on order from LG. Going into my third week without a refrigerator SMH

Small freezer sections - LG model LXMS28596S/06

Overall a fairly good fridge. Nice features such as bypass door. However the two freezer sections are quite small and have limited capacity. If we were to buy another fridge we would probably purchase a three door instead of a four-door fridge. Display temperature does not match temperature of fridge or freezer measured with thermometer.

Short life span for a $3000 unit

My unit was purchased 3 years ago and we loved it. But for the price I would expect longer life. Unit threw an FF E error code. We did all the online stuff to no avail. Had the service tech replace the fan assembly. Unit still didnt cool. Tech came again and said unit has a seal leak and is unrepairable. So we are out a refrigerator. Dealer is standing behind but I have to buy a new one. LG not coming to the table with much to offer here.

Got it in 2021 and it broke almost 2 1/2yrs later

Bad fault fridge 12/25/2024

It was working fine than out of nowhere it stop working. I called customer service and every time they keep trying to get me to say something else was wrong and I keep repeating what happened over and over. On top of that I just had my babies and all my breast milk supply was gone and I had to buy a mini fridge to keep it from getting bad. Everyone in my area refused to work with LG because they werent getting payment for their service so once again I have to wait for them to call me back with another technician which btw did not happen so I had to pay out of pocket to get it done and when I called to get a refund for the service I keep getting the run around. Eventually they send it through but we only got back what we paid to get it fix but all my foodjust food shop btw breast milk was gone so over $700 worth of breast milk and special milk similac alimentum liquid was thrown out it took them one month to respond and that with me calling them to get information on when and what can be done because I really need my fridge but for 2 months I had to go out of my way to store my milk with my neighbor or just buy as need which is an inconvenience for myself and my newborn babies I could even get a refund for all my food that was lost the fridge was faulty and they is what the tech said so I will have to get it fixed if it stop working again on top of that the warranty ran out conveniently when they had to come fix my fridge after waiting for a whole month. Worst experience and very frustrating customer experience I ever had and I am so disappointed.

I bought this refrigerator in 2020. Unfortunately I havent not been able to use the water line as of yet so I cant rate that. But my family loves the knock knock featuremore so me because you dont have to open the door multiple times loosing the regulated temperature too often or too long. I have a family of 5 so we needed this large size it fits everything we need. The double freezer door helps keep more food in the main house since we still need an over flow over freezer food in a deep freezer.

Ive had this fridge for about 2 1/2 years and I love it only complaint is the icemaker the ice bunches up on one side and freezes in a clump and the bin is small.

Liked the features of the refrigerator but did not like that it only lasted 2 1/2 years. We had a repair man come out but he said it appeared to be a short in the internal wiring and was not repairable.

NEVER will I purchase an LG refrigerator again. Customer service abysmal horrendous communication with me as well as within their own organization. Cooling fan died after 2.5 years/ice maker stopped working. Service tech replaced part but 2 weeks later both fridge AND ice maker stopped working. This was 2 days before Thanksgiving. CS said they could not get anyone out for another 2 weeks. Then nobody shows. I received 2 texts that said my service appointment would be canceled but there was nothing saying LG in the text nor the timing of my appt. Seemed like a scam or something. CS told me not to respond and my service appt was still scheduled. Another text was sent canceling days before appt but I called CS they said appt was still scheduled. When nobody showed today I contacted CS and they said I should have received a text... WHAT??? Poor communication Lies Untrustworthy Poor Quality

I bought this in Feb 2022 and started having problems in June 2024 I had an extended warranty and 7 repair attempts 4 parts attempted to be replaced later between the ice maker not working then the fridge would not cool. I have had to buy ice for the last rew months. I am still battling with the warranty co in which my fridge went on Thanksgiving.

I got the frig in 2019 had problems and had to unplug and let it defrost after 2 years then we had a power outage for 8 days plugged it back up and wouldnt run took over a month for the tech to get here and fix it. Which was last night 11-4-24 told me not to put food in for a week in case it goes out again

Trouble after having it 3 years it started making a noise then lg said to unplug it for 48 hours to defrost it. I did started working. Now I am in a disaster area our power went out for 8 days when it came back on the lg fridge wouldnt work. Ive been in contact with lg several times. Its under warranty for compressor. Still had to pay up front almost $500 for a lg tech to come out. Its been 3 weeks now and still no tech Then I find out this model frig has a class action law suite Will think twice before I get another lg product

I am very disappointed in my refrigerator as far as being problem free. It is a beautiful refrigerator and I really like the lay out. It is not aligned evenly on the doors and I have had to replace ice maker which I rarely use. Also the drawers dented easily and I am still not sure how that happened. They were replaced under the warranty which is great but now it I have discovered it is not made correctly and the bottom drawer has constant frost on the front edge of the drawer and it gets ice build up on the inside right side of the bottom drawer I guess because it leaks air or something. I bought a new gasket and installed it but it seems worse. when the appliance repair tech came to change out the drawer fronts he raised the left leg to try and balance it to make door even but that made the ice build up on the left side as well. I paid way too much money for this and it doesnt work properly. Now I am stuck at having to pay a hefty repair bill. It is only 3 years old The repair man said it was made wrong drawer bows too much so it cannot fit tight.

Lg service is a joke. Lg is fine until it breaks down. Even under warranty you are on your own. Cannot recommend this product.

The compressor gave out after four years. That may be about average for modern appliances. The rest of the unit has been great. LGs warranty service was very good hence the 4 stars. They replaced th compressor at no charge. It now works like new.

Specs say 35.75 width so designed cabinetry accordingly. Turns out the extra refrigeration/insulation put in the side panels adds nearly another inch to the width causing a bulge on either side. Refrigerator no longer can fit in our design space and LG refuses to do anything about it or replace the unit. Neer seen this happen before. Will not buy from them again.

Average Fridge nothing great. Compressor went out after 4 years. At least it was still under warranty. Water filter holder had a flaw and it has been very difficult to install filters. That was finally replaced at my expense. Light on the water/ice dispenser does not come on until you push the paddle. This is a design flaw. It should be on before getting water to show you where it is in the dark. The door in door is a nice feature but we never use the light that comes on when knocking on the door. We still have an older fridge that is the same model except with the Kenmore name on it and it still runs fine. They dont make them like they used to.

We purchased the LG Fridge with our new home. One year in the unit started making loud noises and the then the ice maker went out and a few days later the fridge stopped cooling as well. We set an appointment that was much further out than we liked but were told that was all that was available. 5 days with out a fridge and then we find out that the service department is going to cancel our service call because they scheduled the service for the wrong address and also shipped the part to the wrong address. We were then told that it would be another 3 days before they could get a technician to our location. The old address that they had was only 6 miles away but they wouldnt just reroute the technician to our correct location. A very expensive refrigerator only a year old and now a $500.00 repair. This is the worst appliance/service company Ive ever dealt with and I will never own an another LG product ever again.

Had this fridge for two years now without any issues but three weeks ago it started make a loud squeaking noise and alternates with a loud humming noise which is different than the usual noise from the refrigerator. I was told by LG that this issue was not covered by LG and I needed to pay a technician about $400 for labor to come out and fix. It was a disappointment that LG does not take care of its customers better. We owned this refrigerator for only two years.

This is the third LG refrigerator we have had. We have had problems with the compressor in every one of them. One lasted about 5 years. One lasted 4 years and one only lasted a year Then dealing with LG is an absolute nightmare.
